Our Story

In 2015 Pastor Curtis & Amy Jones had a dream of planting a life giving church with a simple goal- helping people connect with God so that they might reach their full potential. A few short years later with the help of the original Go Team members (around 35 people) committed to see this dream become a reality, Discover Church then launched in September of 2017 at Sussex Central High School. Just a short time later where blessed to move to a permanent location at 406 S Bedford St in Georgetown to help meet the need of Sussex County.

Discover is focused on reaching out to the non-churched community by building relationships through small groups and community outreach. The life-giving message of the Gospel, the passion and joy of Sunday gatherings, and the simple style of Discover Church we believe will bring life to Sussex County.

Our Mission:

We desire to encourage everyone to know God, find community and make a difference in their world.

  • Curtis & amy jones

    Lead Pastors

Pastors Curtis & Amy Jones are life long Sussex County natives who have been married and in ministry for more than 20 years. For many years both Curtis and Amy were serving on staff at Dagsboro Church of God where Curtis grandfather pastored and where he grew up. During their time both Curtis and Amy were involved in a vast array of ministries such as teaching, facilities, finances and children's ministry. In 2013, God began to stir in Curtis’ heart a new ministry. The desire to plant a church in Central Sussex County could only come from God, and with it, it placed a desire in Curtis & Amy along with 35 other team members to launch Discover Church in September of 2017. With their two children, Elisha & Haley, the Jones family has set their aim to change Sussex County and show the love of God. Discover Church has gone from a portable environment at Sussex Central High School to recently purchasing the building they've been renting for several years. They've seen continual growth to a thriving church with multiple services, small groups & serve teams. They have a desire to encourage everyone to know God, find community and make a difference in their world.

  • Chanell Singh

    Next Gen Leader

Chanell Singh lives in Millsboro with her husband Trib and two daughters, Alexis and Tristen.  Her family loves to have "forced family fun time" and are avid movie goers.  Trib at times will pick cheesy 80's movies to prove that the 80's is the best decade ever.  Chanell is actively involved in an Olympic lifting club called Grit and Grind Barbell Club and competes several times a year.  Chanell worked at M&T Bank for 17 years before she became the Financial Administrator  at DCOG in 2013.  Chanell has always had a heart to serve.  in 2005 Chanell and her girls started attending DCOG and in 2007 she found a place to serve and got involved in the kids and youth ministries.  So much so, that Chanell and Trib were baptized in 2010 in the 24/7 Students youth group with several of the youth.  Where her husband got deployed for his second tour in 2019, Chanell stepped out of the kids ministry to focus on her girls and to fill in the gap while Trib was away.  She, however, has stayed invested and greatly involved in the youth ministry for over 14 years.  She has been a board member of  the Dagsboro Boys & Girls Club for over 10 years.  Chanell joined the staff at DC in late 2021 and is excited to help lead/teach students how to draw closer to God and create a personal relationship with Him.
